WoW Olympic Games Event confirmed on US servers, goes live today

"Those of you who've already heard about the Olympics-like extravaganza that will be running on Blizzard's World of Warcraft today, there's no need to worry about the US servers missing out on this special event. Blizzard Poster Belfaire on the WoW forums confirmed that the Olympic Games Event is go live on US servers today at the stroke of midnight (12 a.m. PDT). Initially announced for the European and Chinese servers, there was some distress whether US gamers can attain some of the special event-only items being offered during the event's duration. As Belfaire put it, the Olympic Games Event ""goes live August 8th at midnight server time, lasts until the 25th"". Here are some of the details on how to get some of the neat in-game Olympics-themed stuff during the event: To get the new tabard, you only have to play one battleground. Winning or losing doesn't matter, if you stay for the duration of the battle you will be mailed a Competitor's Tabard. To get the new pet, you must defeat your rivals in any of the Battlegrounds. With every victory, there is a chance that a Gold Medallion will be mailed to you. By the time you finish reading this article, the event should have already gone live on your respective server so go ahead and see if you have what it takes to go for the gold and score yourself one for the Olympics. Blizzard releases new beer steins, comes in Horde or Alliance flavors There ain't no drinking beer like drinking beer out of a mug with a World of Warcraft theme.
